Accusations come to light

Honduras- The Honduran cardinal, accused of multiple acts of corruption and a loyal ally of the dictatorship, Óscar Andrés Rodríguez, argued that the constant massacres in the country stem from the lack of knowing God.

“Young people are killed among them, if all are life projects that could be realized and that could result in great good and why end up like that because you do not know God,” he said in the Sunday homily.

The bodies of four young men, brutally murdered, were found early Sunday morning in the capital of Honduras, Tegucigalpa.

There are 19 victims who leave multiple crimes, while the murderers total 90 people, including the son of two prominent journalists.

Corruption:

The Pope has ordered an investigation into the church in Honduras, as confirmed by the Holy See, after an Italian magazine accused Honduran Cardinal Oscar Andrés Rodríguez Maradiaga of having charged large sums of money from the Catholic University of Honduras for years.

“There is an investigation ordered by the Holy Father himself,” Vatican press office spokesman Greg Burke said in a statement, without providing further details. Rodríguez Maradiaga is the coordinator of the group of cardinals who advise the Pope in the reform of the Roman curia.
