With the beginning of 2019, several changes announced by the new government in social, administration and telecommunications policies that will directly impact the population also began.

Since January 1, changes took effect such as the payment of booths in Federal Roads and Bridges (Capufe), which stopped receiving payments with a credit or debit card, in the 133 payment places.

This, according to Capufe, in order to provide better service and speed up the crossing of users through the network of bridges and highways that the agency operates, as it ensures that the savings in crossing time will be significantly reduced, since the lapse destined for collection with credit or debit cards is up to six times higher than that made with TAG or cash, modalities that will continue to be accepted.

Scholarships for young people

From the first day of January, also began the registration stage of the Youth Building the Future program, one of the star programs of the social project of López Obrador and consisting of scholarships of 2,400 pesos per month to 300 thousand young people who completed upper secondary education but they did not continue at the university level; as well as a support of 3,600 pesos to 2.3 million children under 30 who no longer study or have a job, for a year.

According to the Ministry of Labor and Social Security (STPS), the agency that will operate the program, the interested parties must identify the registration center nearest their home, where they can register and give their information like age, educational level, interests, and place of residence.

Subsequently, the system will give the available options, according to the profile of the applicant. Afterward, the company that has been selected will be notified that, within a period of 10 working days, the beneficiary will go to the work center.

According to the unit, at the end of the training year, the program will be followed up by the National Employment Service, with the aim of incorporating them into the labor market.

minimum salary

The Minimum Wage in the country rose from $ 102.68 pesos per day, 14 pesos with 32 cents over the current one, from $ 88.36.

While in the Free Zone of the Northern Border will double from $ 88.36 to $ 176.72, after the agreement between the representatives of the workers, employer and government sector last December.

The salary adjustment for the federal government also came into effect on January 1, 2019, under which no official can earn more than President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

Goodbye to 044

As of August 3, 2019, the 044, 045 and 01 will also be eliminated for dialing from landlines in the country, in order to standardize the system to 10 digits and save resources.

According to Rafael Eslava,  head of the Concessions and Services Unit of the Federal Institute of Telecommunications , digit 1 is also deleted to make international traffic calls made from abroad to Mexico.

“It is a very long term, but this basically serves to have enough time for the adaptation of networks and systems of all telephone service providers, so that this implementation is done correctly,” he explained.
