2018 closes with the arrival of 90 cruise ships and for 2019 are scheduled for Mazatlan 149.

Mazatlan, Sinaloa.- In recent years Mazatlan has been recovering in the arrival of cruise ships, in 2017 84 ships arrived, in 2018 90 and by 2019, 149 tourist boats have been programmed.

In 2018, Mazatlan counted the arrival of 90 cruises with 351 thousand international visitors, who left several billion pesos in economic income.

In 2017, 84 tourist vessels arrived at the destination with 219,448 passengers and crew on board and although the difference with last year was only six cruises, the size of these was greater and therefore with a greater number of passengers.

So far by 2019 have been confirmed 149, which the goal will be overcome with 59 arrivals, which is expected to exceed 500 thousand cruise passengers.

With this increase in the number of cruises, the confidence that the shipping companies have deposited in the port and Sinaloa is demonstrated.

For his part, the president of the Association of Tour Guide Drivers “Rafael Buelna”, Melesio Omar Quintero, said that with this increase in the arrival of cruise ships are required to offer new products.

He stressed that the differentiation of other destinations is necessary so that the port of Mazatlan has a new identity and that will have to be done with the new federal tourism secretary, Miguel Torruco.

“We have to renew ourselves and go thinking about the new generations that are professional people that some have careers related to tourism and the intention is to support us with new members in the group to support us with fresh innovative ideas to offer tourists what they are looking for, different activities” , He said.

The tourist services provider said that they will look for new routes and include other tours in the rural area, so that the economic spill that tourists leave increases, since they currently spend an average of 80 dollars per person.
