Almost the entire fleet is in port for the end of the year celebrations.

Mazatlan, Sinaloa.- More than 95% of the shrimp fleet entered the port for fishermen to spend the holidays with their families, however, they will do so in the midst of uncertainty, as the vast majority will no longer return to the fishing.

The president of the Federation of Fishing Cooperatives of Altamar, Carlos Rojas estimated that, given the high operating costs low prices and catches, more than 70% will no longer continue in the activity.

He said that the catches are low, each boat has brought between one and two tons which does not fully compensate the expenditure on inputs.
