LVMH already has chains such as Bulgari and Cheval Blanc, so it will pay 42% on the closing price of Belmond on Thursday in the United States, so in the world of luxury, it is a great opportunity to acquire such a coveted asset.

“The LVMH offer provides both a favorable valuation for shareholders and interesting development prospects,” said Belmond’s board chairman, Roland Hernandez.

It should be noted that the Belmond Maroma Resort & Spa hotel in Riviera Maya is located adjacent to the Catalonia Maroma and the Secrets Maroma (AMResorts, of Apple Leisure Group), and surrounded by other luxury hotels such as the Vidanta, Iberostar, Valentín, Blue Diamond ( BlueBay) or Mayakoba, before arriving in Playa del Carmen from Cancun.

The Belmond chain specializes in the management of hotels of exception, tourist trains and river cruises, was created more than four decades ago with the acquisition of the Hotel Cipriani in Venice.

It is currently present in 24 countries and has a network of 46 hotels, including several in Peru.

It also has the Splendido in Portofino, the Copacabana in Rio de Janeiro, the Grand Hotel in Saint Petersburg, the Deiá Residence (Mallorca, Spain) or the Hotel das Cataratas in the Iguazú National Park in Brazil.

This operation is scheduled for the first semester of 2019, pending the approval of the shareholders of Belmond and the approval of government authorities on competition.
