He explained that tourism activity contributes 8.7 of the Gross Domestic Product(GDP), greater participation than that of sectors such as mining, oil, primary, construction or financial services sectors.
Torruco said that in 2017 the tourism sector grew more than the national economy, of 3.4% against 2.3%; In addition, that year the Mexican Republic received 39 million 300 thousand international tourists, which represented 21 thousand 336 million dollars.
“In 2018, according to the trend from January to September, the closure prospects will have captured 42 million 423 thousand tourists, and an estimated total expenditure of international visitors of the order of 22 thousand 307 million dollars, that is, 4.6 more than in 2017, “he stressed.
He explained that in 2017 the national hotel infrastructure was 22 thousand establishments with 800 thousand 600 hotel rooms, and by the end of 2018 it is estimated will be 23 thousand 200 establishments with 834 thousand hotel rooms, equivalent to a growth of 5.5% and 4.9 %, respectively.
