Mazatlan, Sinaloa.- In what would mark the end of a good year for Mazatlan, 2018 will close with occupations from 95 to 100 percent in hotels, estimated José Ramón Manguart Sánchez, president of the Tres Islas Hotel Association.
He said that from December 22 is expected an increase in the influx of visitors looking to celebrate Christmas and the end of the year on the beaches of the city.
The hotel leader considered that 2018 has been a good year in terms of improving the urban image and the infrastructure of services.
We hope that this trend will continue during 2019 to improve the destination as a tourism product, he said.
Manguart Sanchez said that after the success in the International Tourism Tianguis, which marked the relaunch of Mazatlan as a recovered destination, there are good prospects for Mazatlan in 2019.
However, he stressed, the priority should be to capitalize on the opportunities that are opening up for Sinaloa and increase the influx of domestic tourists. He commented that Mazatlan has been maintained by regional tourism in recent years.
95 percent of the visitors are of national origin, “and we must remain in force, but generating positive news regarding the update of the image and the events that are held.”
On the controversy of the 2019 budget presented by the federal administration, he said that it is only a proposal that can be adjusted.
The great opportunity that Mazatlan has for tourism is the good relationship that exists between Mayor Luis Guillermo Benítez Torres and the President of the Republic, Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
