Mazatlan, Sinaloa.- Since last Wednesday afternoon, the water service was cut throughout the city because the Municipal Board of Water Supply and Sewerage (Jumapam) announced that it would conduct maintenance work on the water treatment plant Los Horcones.

It was in that same statement that JUMAPAM warned that the service would be suspended from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Neighbors from Colonia Francisco Villa, Chulavista, Prados del Sol, Terranova, Dorados de Villa districts, point out that they still suffer from the scarcity of the vital liquid.

The water supply will be gradually restored.

Between the afternoon of today and the first hours of Monday, the potable water service will be restored in Mazatlan, promised the general manager of the Municipal Board of Drinking Water and Sewerage of Mazatlán (Jumapam), Quel Galván Pelayo.

Until Saturday evening, a brigade of employees of the Jumapam carried out the last repairs of the driving line located on José María Pino Suárez Avenue.

The official called the public to ration the water because until tomorrow the supply will be regulated.
The manager’s recommendation was late for the population because almost all Mazatlan homes are without water.

María de Jesús Santiago, a neighbor of the Infonavit Alarcón, stressed that since Friday night she had no water. The residents of this settlement complain that they have reduced the liquid in recent weeks and this prevents them from going to the water tanks.

Now that the service was completely suspended for the damage to the pipeline, the reservation they had was immediately exhausted.

The damage

Quel Galván explained that as a result of the rupture caused by the company Fenosa, responsible for introducing the natural gas pipeline in the municipality, the water service will remain rationed in the downtown area of the city. The affectation to the line of conduction left without water to dozens of colonies, and in other zones the flow went down between 30 and 40 percent.

This despite the fact that the city’s tanks woke up to a good level, but the demand is great in the municipality, said the official of the Drinking Water and Sewerage Board of Mazatlan.

The damage to the 32-inch pipeline, which left the Mazatlan families without water, cost them.
Margarita Sánchez, from the Benito Juarez neighborhood, says she does not have a water tank in her house. To solve the basic needs he had to buy water in jug.

The minimum that he paid for each one was 15 pesos. They live three at home and had to spend 100 pesos on the water.
