MAYOR OF TIJUANA MEXICO CALLS FOR ARREST OF CARAVAN ORGANIZERS

The strain on resources in Tijuana, Mexico have been stretched past their limits and threatens to negatively impact Mexican citizens of Tijuana. The mayor,  Juan Manuel Gastelum, is now calling for the immediate arrest of caravan organizers for putting people’s lives in danger. It has been revealed that the organizers convinced the people that getting into the United States is easy and now, the caravan migrants are finding out that was a lie. Already, hundreds of the illegal aliens have agreed to a voluntary repatriation to their home countries, with more people seriously considering it.

Fox News correspondent Griff Jenkins sat down with Tijuana Mayor Juan Manuel Gastelum to discuss the caravan currently camping out in his city.

Gastelum told Fox News that the federal police should arrest the organizers of the caravan for “putting people at risk.”

“Let’s take care of them in a legal way,” Gastelum added.

It’s not surprising that Gastelum is growing impatient with the caravan. There is an estimated over 6,000 migrants settled in his city, and they are beginning to cause problems.

“We’ve have never, never, never, never had this problem,” Gastelum said. “Some of these people are coming in violently, disrespectfully, not as a good, law-abiding citizen. And that’s what’s hurt us.”

Gastelum said the migrants are also significantly hurting Tijuana economically, according to Fox News.

“We won’t compromise the resources of the residents of Tijuana,” Gastelum said during a press conference. “We won’t raise taxes tomorrow to pay for today’s problem.”

“We’ve have never, never, never, never had this problem,” Gastelum said. “Some of these people are coming in violently, disrespectfully, not as a good, law-abiding citizen. And that’s what’s hurt us.”

Gastelum said the migrants are also significantly hurting Tijuana economically.

“In those six hours that the border was closed, we lost approximately 129 million pesos,” he said. “That’s not fair. How do you think people from Tijuana feel towards those people who are making problems?”

Tijuana residents who legally cross the border every day to work in San Diego were unable to go to work because of the temporarily closed border. It cost the city the equivalent of over 6 million dollars.

“I’m not going to break public services to solve this problem,” Gastelum said.

Gastelum is not alone in his disdain for the caravan. Mexicans, in general, seem to have a negative view of the caravan that settled in their country.

A poll conducted by Mexico City newspaper El Universal revealed that 70 percent of Mexicans have a negative view of the migrant caravan.

“Those are the real criminals because they’re dealing with the lives of people,” the Tijuana mayor said of the organizers.

It’s true that this entire crisis wouldn’t exist if the organizers didn’t manipulate thousands of people into thinking they’d be able to illegally enter the United States.

These caravans will keep coming if the organizers go unpunished.
