Among the biggest debtors is the Integral Port Administration, declared treasurer Javier Alarcón Lizárraga

Mazatlan, Sinaloa.- The municipal government is owed close to 700 million pesos in the tax for the use of the Federal Maritime Terrestrial Zone, and among the biggest debtors is the Integral Port Administration (API), Javier Alarcón Lizárraga said.

The Municipal Treasurer clarified that the hotel sector is not in the list of most delinquent taxpayers, but it does have a registry of aquaculture farms that no longer exist, and that increases the figure.

“They are around 700 million pesos, very similar to the debt that exists in property, but I also want to clarify here that of those 700 million include as many as two hundred and so many millions of surcharges.”

“… also, it is very important to say that there are many aquaculture farms that were actually benefiting from these federal lands and that right now they are no longer there,” he said.

The official said that the API does not want to pay even though there is an agreement and contract in between, maybe they resort to the recourse of the amparo to not fulfill their responsibility, and that they charge for each ship that docks in the port.

“Surcharges are being removed, an agreement was reached with them of around 14 million pesos, which is the contract or the trial to charge that amount and API has not really paid for it.”

“… really right now is what we are seeing, really these people if they do not pay, they will proceed legally to not pay as other entrepreneurs do,” he said.

He specified that the payment requirements, the corresponding invitations have already been sent through treasury and now, they can only wait for them to comply, otherwise they will act through the legal area
