Chiapas – Without any pronouncement by Governor Manuel Velasco and virtually no government support or civil organizations, almost 500 displaced people from Chenalhó, Zinacatán, and Ocosingo, continued for the second consecutive day their walk to Tuxtla Gutiérrez, to demand the dismantling of the groups armed that caused his exile and humanitarian aid.
During this Tuesday, the group of displaced people who departed on Monday from San Cristobal de las Casas to the capital of the state of Chiapas, received the accompaniment of the Red Cross and State Civil Protection.
In a statement, the Red Cross reported that the walking group consists of 88 families, 324 adults and 120 children that gives a total of 444 people who have received cures, have been provided with muscle medicates, for intestinal ailments and for the roads respiratory
Civil protection officials also assisted a pregnant woman who participated in the caravan and had to be transferred to a hospital to give birth.
The displaced indigenous people have lived since 2015 in San Cristóbal de las Casas and other localities, waiting for the government to establish the conditions so that they can return to their communities, where they were intimates by armed groups.
