The Purge Begins: Former Sinaloa official detained for corruption

Dionisio Sánchez Félix served as director of Administrative Control of the Secretariat of Urban Development and Public Works during the six-year term of the governor of Sinaloa, Mario López Valdez.

Staff of the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) and the National Institute of Migration (INM) detained Dionisio Sánchez Félix at the Mexico City International Airport (AICM), who has an arrest warrant for his probable responsibility in the crime of improper exercise of public service.

He noted that the former official, who has a Red Notice issued by the Interpol Central Office, based in Lyon, France, was arrested to be placed at the disposal of troops of the General Prosecutor of the State of Sinaloa, responsible for their transfer from the City of Mexico before the authority that requires it.

In a statement, the PGR said that the agents located them when they were descending from a flight from Amsterdam, which had as its final destination the city of Culiacán, Sinaloa.

He added that the detainee was approached by INM personnel who interviewed him and was later apprehended by agents of the AICM, without using violence and with respect at all times of their rights.
