Local authorities declared a state of emergency in this municipality, after overflowing of the Baluarte River and putting at risk 10 communities, after the passage of Hurricane Willa.

Meanwhile, in Sinaloa, the growth of the Baluarte River, keeps the authorities on alert, since at least 10 communities would be at risk should they overflow.
The Baluarte River is a tributary that comes from the Sierra de Durango and crosses Sinaloa over 142 kilometers.
