Good news for Quebecers looking to get a head start on their next winter vacation; from December 18, 2018 until April 16, 2019, Montrealers will be able to take advantage of convenient vacation packages to Mazatlan, Mexico following the introduction of a new weekly flight service to the popular Pacific Mexican destination, departing Tuesdays. With the introduction of the new route, Quebecers will enjoy convenient, direct flight services to 27 of the most popular sunshine destinations across the Caribbean, Mexico, Florida and Central America from Montreal this coming winter when they book with Sunwing.
It’s all part of a strategy to build on Mazatlan which is fast becoming a popular choice for travelers. An official welcome was held last week in Mazatlan on the tarmac and attended by local government officials, Sunwing representatives and members of local media.
Mazatlan isn’t new to Sunwing, they’ve been serving the destination since they merged with Signature Vacations in 2009. Andrew Dawson, Chief Operating Officer for the Sunwing Travel Group, says in an interview with TravelPulse Canada, it is something they’ve built on over the years and have been able to increase gateways across the country due to demand.
“Matzalan is a popular choice, it’s a good affordable option. It’s a good option because it represents real Mexico, people actually feel like they’ve had a Mexican vacation when they come to Mazatlan. It stimulates people to actually leave this property and it’s very easy for people to do so, even if it’s just a walk on the beach or on the shuttles that take you into town.”

“We’ve got flights from Toronto, Montreal and across the west we try and make them on the same day as it often helps to sell groups so that people can buy from Vancouver, Edmonton and they can arrive together,” says Dawson. “We’ll consider that as one group, so they’ll still get the same group discounts even though they’ve come from different gateways. “
