The company Score International will have to pay 507 thousand 780 pesos to carry out the race of all-terrain vehicles through the protected natural area.

Mexico.  For damaging the Valle de los Cirios Flora and Fauna Protection Area, the Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection (Profepa) imposed a fine on Score International S de RL de CV, as well as the suspension of the Baja 1000 race.

Although the cancellation is temporary, the company must pay 507 thousand 780 pesos to the environmental authority, because in the verification found that the all-terrain vehicles destroyed specimens of cactaceae of the lophocerus schotti species , protected under the category of special protection.

The vehicles traveled through areas where they had not requested an authorization to use them as a path belonging to the circuit.

In November 2014 Profepa announced that it would sanction the organizers of the Baja 1000 with 50 thousand salaries, for environmental damages but it is not clear if the company paid that amount.
