Extreme Flooding; Our Neighbors in Central and Northern Sinaloa need our help

Mexico’s National Coordination of Civil Protection of the Ministry of the Interior issued an emergency declaration for 11 municipalities in Sinaloa for the damages that the intense rains of the last hours have left.

Sinaloa senators Rubén Rocha Moya, Imelda Castro and Mario Zamora, requested to the Secretary of the Interior on Thursday September 20, the declaration of Disaster Zone for the municipalities of Ahome, El Fuerte, Choix, Guasave, Sinaloa, Angostura, Salvador Alvarado, Mocorito, Badiraguato, Navolato and Culiacán, in the northern and central parts of the state of Sinaloa, that were affected by the intense precipitations provoked by the remnants of Tropical Storm 19-E that was located in the Gulf of California.

To all Ex-pats living in Mazatlán and nearby beach communities, due to the emergency situation suffered by our neighbors to the north and center of the state derived from severe floods caused by an intense tropical depression, the Elected Mayor, Chemist Luis Guillermo Benítez Torres (“El Químico”), made the call to install a collection center at the office located on Melchor Ocampo #510 (almost corner with Guillermo Nelson), with a schedule of 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM starting on Thursday Sep. 20, till further notice.

The following items are needed: Water, canned food (not perishable goods), clothing in good condition, personal hygiene items, non-expired medications and cleaning supplies.
