The proposal to ask the private sector for 20 pesos for each peso that the government invests for infrastructure would be viable as long as there are conditions of certainty in the investments and the profitability of the projects, said the president of the Confederation of National Chambers of Commerce, Services, and Tourism. (Concanaco-Servytur), José Manuel López Campos. The next Minister of Communications and Transport, Javier Jiménez Espriú, said that in order to increase the infrastructure in the country, they will ask the companies to allocate 20 for each peso the government invests. “An invitation from the government to convert a ratio of 1 to 20 is a proposal that has to be taken very seriously, and with which one has to think, only two conditions are needed: certainty in the investment and the profitability of the projects themselves, “said López Campos. He explained that they would be totally open to investment alternatives that detonate the productive sector of the country; “The concessions, as well as public-private partnerships, are necessary because of the great needs that Mexico has in terms of infrastructure, especially now that the President-elect’s government plan contemplates reducing the backwardness of the south-southeast of Mexico with respect to the states of the center and north of the country “. He explained that the part that puts the public treasury would have to be seen as a seed capital, which in many cases would serve for investment analysis or pre-investment of the business and invite the joint venture or concession projects when the guaranteed profitability of the project. “Investors are willing to risk their capital, but in a legal framework that gives certainty, and where you have a scenario where there is a possibility of a return on investment and reasonable profits.” For his part, the president of the Employers Confederation of the Mexican Republic, Gustavo de Hoyos, said he still does not know the proposal made by the next head of the SCT, so he did not comment. The Mexican Association of Automotive Distributors did not talk about it either since it indicated that it is necessary to know the national infrastructure plan and the projects that they intend to grant or open to public-private associations.
